Writing Prompts: Life After Independence

It is one thing to strive for independence and quite another to actually acheive it. Oftentimes the freedoms we dream of come at a price we do not expect to pay or our new found independence does not turn out to be what we thought it would be.

Use today’s writing prompts to explore both the good and the bad when your characters finally achieve the freedom they have been longing for.

1. Write about a teen who runs away from home.

2. Write about an alien who finally reaches retirement age and leaves his “corporate” job.

3. Write about someone who finally achieves millionaire status.

4. Write about an angel who chooses to become human to escape all the rules and regulations of heaven.

5. Write about a country that must learn to govern itself after breaking away from an oppressive dictatorship.
