Writing Prompts: Catastrophic Endings

The movie “The Day After Tomorrow” is a film about a sudden climate change that has catastrophic consequences. After watching it, I had a dream about trying to survive the end of the world. Nothing prophetic like the second coming of Jesus or the tenth incarnation of Vishnu but rather of me trying to live in a world where civilization as I knew it had come to an end.

So today’s set of creative writing prompts will focus on the theme of “After The End”.

1. Write the sequel to the movie and answer the question, “What happens next?”

2. It goes without saying that most people will move to a place of warmer weather. Write a story about what life will be like in these over crowded places.

3. Write about life for those who chose or are stuck in the cold weather areas.

4. It is quite possible we will be forced to live in Biospheres to survive. Write about the creation of the first biosphere and the greed and control issues that’s are sure to be involved.

5. What about an attempt to prevent the Ice Age from happening in the first place.
