Writing Prompts: The Invisible Character

I’m stoked because Hollow Man with Kevin Bacon is coming on tonight. If you haven’t seen it before, the movie is about a group of scientist who manages to unlock the secret of invisibility. The only problem is that they can’t make Kevin Bacon’s character visible again. As the months go by, his inhibitions lessen and he becomes mentally unstable causing him to do some horrible things.

The movie is based on a novel by HG Wells called “The Invisible Man” which you can download for free and read. With today’s creative writing prompts, we are going to explore the various aspects and nuances of what it means to be “invisible.”

1. Write a story where everyone in the characters life treats him/her as though they were invisible.

2. Write a story where the character believes their home is haunted but they are actually being plagued by a scientist who has created an invisibility cloak.

3. Write a story about a workaholic who wakes up one day and realizes that they have a spouse and children whose entire lives they missed because they were working so much.

4. Write a story about a character who is being stalked.

5. Write a story about a character who actually can become invisible at will.
