Writing Prompts: Secrets

Comments Off

Secrets. We all have them. Sometimes they’re silly. Sometimes they’re tragic and sometimes they’re even dangerous. We keep secrets because we fear what people may think of us if they knew which makes me wonder if we really keep secrets because we want to or because of social pressure.

In any event, secrets often dictate how we behave which can range anywhere from keeping our mouths shut at the right moments to building an elaborate matrix of lies to conceal the truth. Write about what your characters would do to prevent these secrets from being exposed.

1. Write about a man who’s fiance is a demon.

2. Write about an employee who spits in their boss’ coffee every morning.

3. Write about a person who became rich by stealing from others.

4. Write about a person killed another person in a hit and run accident.

5. Write about someone who has learned how to fly (without mechanical assistance).
